Assegnati, nel corso della serata tenutasi a Downtown LA presso l’Intercontinental Hotel, i riconoscimenti annuale della 24esima edizione degli Art Directors Guild Awards.
Cerimonia, condotta da Debra Wilson, che ha visto trionfare nella categoria Contemporary Film Lee Ha – Jun per “Parasite”, Barbara Ling per “C’era una volta a..Hollywood”, nella sezione Period Film, e Charles Wood per “Avengers: Endgame” nel Fantasy Film.
Denis Villeneuve ha conferito il William Cameron Menzies Award, che è stato consegnato postumo a Syn Mead, scomparso lo scorso dicembre all’età di 86 anni. Il regista, ha definito Mead, con il quale aveva collaborato in “Blade Runner 2049”, “Il Maestro del Design” – aggiungendo – “Era influente e ha creato progetti cinematografici rivoluzionari.”
Jac Johnson, Denis Olsen, Stephen Myles Berger e Joe Alves sono stati onorati con il Premio alla Carriera.
“Come Designer, prendiamo mondi e li costruiamo” – ha dichiarato Alves, collaboratore di lunga data di Steven Spielberg – “Costruiamo anche squali”.
Per quanto riguarda il campo televisivo invece, vincitori “The Umbrella Academy”, “The Big Bang Theory”, “Chernobyl” e “Russian Doll”.
