Costume Designers Guild Awards: Colleen Atwood, Paul Tazewell e Kate Hawley sono i vincitori tra cinema e TV.
La 28ª edizione deiCostume Designers Guild Awards (CDG), come riportato da AwardsWatch, si è svolta giovedì sera al The Ebell di Los Angeles. La serata ha celebrato i migliori costumi di cinema e televisione, con Colleen Atwood premiata per One Battle After Another, Paul Tazewell per Wicked: For Good e Kate Hawley per Frankenstein.
In televisione, i riconoscimenti principali sono andati a Kameron Lennox per The Studio e Michael Wilkinson per Andor. A presentare la serata è stata l’attrice Courtney Hope, nota per i ruoli in Febbre d’amore e Beautiful, affiancata da ospiti speciali come Michelle Cole, James Cameron e Kate Hudson.
Tra i premi speciali, Teyana Taylor, attrice, regista e musicista nominata a Oscar e Grammy, ha ricevuto il Vanguard Spotlight Award, mentre la costumista Michelle Cole, nove volte candidata agli Emmy, ha ottenuto il Career Achievement Award. Taylor ha sottolineato l’importanza del costume design: “È sempre stato più importante della moda. Prima ancora che un personaggio parli, ciò che indossa racconta chi è, la sua forza, la sua vulnerabilità…Questo premio rappresenta la libertà creativa”.
Il Distinguished Collaborator Award è stato consegnato a James Cameron da Deborah L. Scott, per il contributo eccezionale al costume design, in particolare nella gestione di progetti complessi come Titanic, con oltre 2200 costumi immersi e riutilizzati più volte. Cameron ha commentato: “Questi premi e questa comunità sono fondamentali in un’epoca di assalto dell’intelligenza artificiale. L’intelligenza artificiale non cuce”.
Per la prima volta nella storia della gilda, nella categoria Eccellenza nel design di cortometraggi si è registrato un pareggio: hanno vinto Rafaella Rabinovich (Dandyland, Episodio 10) e Michelle Martini (Uber Eats: A Century of Cravings – Super Bowl).
